The working student program allows the student the opportunity to gain riding experience and equestrian knowledge in exchange for working at NGF. It is not a paid position.
All students are expected to do many of the same day-to-day duties as those expected of the permanent staff.
This can include, but is not limited to:
- exercising
- feeding
- grooming
- general horse first aid
- stall cleaning
- tack cleaning
- pasture and grounds maintenance
- prepping horses for shows and sales
- assisting with lessons and/or training
- assisting at horse shows at home and away
The program includes learning about equestrian health and care, improving riding skills and may include opportunities for competition.
Students do not need to bring their own horse but may do so.
NGF does not provide housing for working students at this time.
Working students may work 5 to 6 days and may include weekends.
